O, THURSDAY, APRIL 22, 1937 aau3 recall 41S NUMBER 149 Original Plays Will Compose Half Of Complete Bill WiU Be Shown Tonigtit The first three of the six ori ginal plays to be produced on -the Playmakers fifth production bill of their regular season will be given tonight at 8 :30 in the Playmaker theater. The other "half of the bill will be given Sat urday evening. Tonights program will open with a tragedy of rural South Carolina, entitled "Draught," by Walter Spearman. The play is leing given under the direction of Holman Milhous. Included in -the cast are Jean Ashe, Christine llaynard, Bob duFour, and Mar guerite Lipscomb. V Second . Bedford Thurman, assisted by- Eugene Langston as stage man ager has directed William Peery's play of a small college, 'The Sun Sets Early." Appear ing in the play are Harold Au- genblick, Paul Quinn, Lubin Leg- jgette, Bob Nachtmann, William Boyle, Evelyn Snider, Kate Ru therford, and John Graff. 'Tightin' Time," a comedy of rsouthern Indiana by Kate May Rutherford; will conclude the Thursday night group of the fifth production bill. There will be no performance Itudents To Gather Today In Anti-War Demonstration Voss To Deliver Talk In Memorial Hall At Ten-Thirty 1 mmam . v. r Meder Is Chairman University students will as semble this morning at 10 :30 in Memorial hall to participate in an anti-war demonstration si multaneously with students in coneges ana universities over the United States. Speaker for the occasion will be the Rev. Carl Hermann Voss, minister , of the United church in Raleigh, who will make the address of the morning". The program will last half an hour. The demonstration is being staged by the Carolina Peace committee, composed of the American Student union and representatives of the Y. M. C. A., Y. W. C. A., and the League of Nations association. Chair man of the demonstration is Tommy Meder. " Comer On Program Harry F. Comer, secretary of the "Y" will introduce the speaker, who is flying by plane from Jacksonville, Fla., in order to appear here today. Posters and banners express ing students' view of war will be held by various people throughout the audience. Col ored posters secured from World Peaceways are on display in buildings on the campus. The library is cooperating with the peace movement by displaying . an exhibit of books pertinent to world affairs and pacifism. The Intimate bookshop also has a display of literature in the same field. Handbills have been distrib uted throughout the dormitories addressing students as "poten tial cannon fodder" and urging them to appear at today's .dem onstration to register their pro test against war. Tonight at 8 o'clock in the main lounge of Graham Memo rial there will be an open forum discussion for students, profes sors, and townspeople to give their opinions of war and peace and the student movement against militarism.
