while Angela Lansbury looks on in this scene from "The Harvey

Marjorie Main and Chill Wills also featured.
90 Couples Attend
Carr Dorm Dance
Over ninety couples attended
the dance given by Carr dormi
tory at the Carolina Inn Friday
night. George Jackson and his
all-veteran band furnished mu
sic for the occasion.
The figure, forming a heart,
was led by Anne Osborne, house
president, and Chuck Donnell,
followed by dance committee
chairmen and members of the
house-council .with their dates.
The valentine theme was car
ried out in the decorations with
red hearts, hanging from' the
doorways and cupids adorning
the walls. The dance, lasting
from 9 to 12 p. m., was under
the chairmanship of Carolyn
Warren, recreation head.

tides on southern literature and
folklore. One of his books
"Folksongs of Mississippi and
Their Background" (U. N. C
Press, 1936) , was dramatized by
the University of Chicago Radio
Studio in cooperation with the
Columbia Broadcasting System
in The Human Adventure pro
gram and broadcast in this form
over a coast-to-coast network.
It also received .major stress in
a more recent program over the
Mutual Network under the spon
sorship of the Encyclopedia
Britannica. Dr. Hudson's latest
work in the field of folklore is a
contribution to a literary history
of the United States to be pub
lished by The Macmillan Com
pany of New York in 1947.

IRANIAN
(Continued from page two) .
Direct negotiations with the
Soviet Union, with regular prog
ress reports to the UNO, were
then established. Since this time
there has been almost no men
tion of the problem in the daily
press and it can only be assumed
that these negotiations are meet
ing with Very little difficulty.
The most important lesson to
be gained from the Iranian Crisis
is that peace can only be main
tained by cooperation and objec
tive thinking on these problems.
Power politics and colonial im
perialism have no place in our
present world. If the UNO is go
ing to deteriorate into a forma-J
tion of blocs against any one of
the major powers, it can only
fail. We must cooperate to aid
ourselves and to aid the back
ward and colonial peoples of the
world. A world cannot exist
half destitute and half prosper
ous. But first, let us realize that
we cannot do these things alone.
