All-Stars 12-0
Boston, July 9 Lanky Ted Wil
liams put on a tremendous show in his
own back yard here in Fenway park
today as he pounded two homers and
garnered four hits in four trips to the
plate to lead the American league all
stars to a 12-0 triumph over an out
classed National league club in the
13th annual all-star contest.
Bobby Feller, Cleveland's fireball
ace, hurled the first three innings for
the winners to become the winning
hurler. Claude Passeau, Chicago Cub
righthander, started for the older
circuit's representatives and was tag
ged with the defeat.
The slugging Americans went into
a two run lead in the first inning when
Williams walked and Yankee Charlie
Keller socked a 360-foot homer into
the rightfield bullpen. That started
the rout and the winners kept right on
hitting to roll up a total of 12 safeties
against 4 National pitchers.
Hal Newhouser of Detroit and Jack
Kramer of St. Louis followed Feller
to the hill in shutting out the badly
beaten, visitors with three hits.
Lady: "Why are you so excited,
little boy? Can't you sit still?"
Little Boy: "Lady, is that any
question to ask a gentleman?"
