Pledges Of Sigma Phi Epsilon
Will Be Entertained Tonight
Sigma Phi Epsilon pledges and
their dates will be entertained
tonight at a formal dance at the
Carolina Inn by their fraternity
brothers.
Prior to the dance a buffet din
ner will be served at the fra
ternity house.
The pledges with their dates
will form a large Sig Ep heart
in the center of the dance floor
led by the officers of the pledge
class and their dates. When the
figure is formed, the active mem
bers will sing the fraternity song,
"Dear Old Fraternity." A no
break dance for the pledges will
follow.
Honored guests will include
Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Friday, and
Dr. and Mrs. C. S. Jones.

Jake Froelich, sophomore from
High Point, was elected president
of Beta Theta Pi Wednesday
night as the fraternity held elec
tions for next year's officers. Don
Sutphen from East Orange, N. J.
was chosen as vice-president. :

will serve as the new alumni sec
retary. Norman Black, the retiring
president, was chosen by Betas
as the rushing chairman. Bill
Black, who has served as assist

Kappa Sigma Pledge Dance
Held In Carolina Inn Ballroom
The Kappa Sig Black and
White Ball, 'the main attraction
of the weekend of festivities
held last week, was a gala af
fair according to all reports from
those in attendance.
. The dance was held in
ballroom of the Carolina Inn
which was decked for the occa
sion in black and white decora
tions. Pines, sprayed white, with
black pine cones lined the walls.
Profiles of the 22 pledges were
scattered , about the walls fof the
room. The bandstand holding
Chic Burroughs and Band was
lavishly decorated in black and
white crepe paper.
All dates and chaperones were
given gardenias upon their ar
rival. Pledges were identified by
boutonnieres of carnations. The
pledges' dates were given hand
bouquets of red roses at the start
of the figure.
-Pledges and their dates formed
the star and crescent, the crest of
the Kappa Sigs as the figure. The
girls composed the crescent while
the pledges formed the star.
Immediately following the
dance, a breakfast was held at
the house where all dates re
ceived as favors compacts bear
ing the fraternity crest.
Other, festivities included a
party at the house Friday after
noon given for the brothers by
the pledges. The brothers recip
rocated with a party at Webb's
Cabin Friday night for the
pledges, brothers, and their dates
where singing and dancing were
the order of the evening.

and their dates partied at the
