Following the tragic Good Fri day slaying of George Bennett and prior to the subsequent sui cide of Len Smithey, the Chapel Hill police were kept busy with the usual run of things reckless drivers, public nuisances, and the like. One of the most interesting sidelights on the weekend of crime, however, was the theft of an automobile from in front of the Chi Psi Lodge on West Cam eron Avenue. Tom Clayton of Roxboro left the Chi Psi house at approxi mately 11:15. to take his date home, but when he went for his car he found it missing. He re turned to the house, accused some of his fraternity brothers of playing a practical joke on him, and when all pleaded innocent, walked his date, home and called the Police Department. The gendarmes went to work on the case, and reported the car found about 6:30 the following morning. After rousing Clayton out of bed, a policeman drove him to a place approximately two miles out of Carrboro where they found the car, a 1947 tan Plymouth coupe. , The right side had been side swiped and both the fenders on that side were smashed. A closer inspection revealed that the two rear tires, the front seat, and the battery were missing. A total of approximately $150 worth of damage was done. each afternoon from 3 to 5 o'clock. Only students who accept the invitations in person will be ini tiated. -Moonmaids- (Continued from page 1 ) Watching them work on the stand, listening to their expert backing of the Monroe baritone on records, and talking to them in person, one gets the impression that these girls aren't just talk ing for publication. .They're getting a big boot out of singing with the country's top band attraction. As a result they give it every ounce of their ener gy and talent. ' CAROLINA SUNDAY - MONDAY UPON WHO THAT I ON THE TELEPHONE-' & rnti 1 hum m im . "j I. t , .tJii. . C 2!!II PO.NTLESS1 M SO....
