Victory Village coupled a last
break with a tight man-to-man
defense, added the perfect shoot
ing of Art Hoch, and cam out
with a 69-39 swamp of Zeta Psi
to "win the campus basketball
championship last night at "Wol-
3en Gym.
Hoch svas high scorer for the
contest "with 31 points, most of
which he made on hooks and lay
ups. Ken Yarborough "was "second
with 16, Tom Higgins third "with
31, and Bill Gess and Charlie
"Winston led the Zetes vith 10
apiece.
Victory Village scored on six
straight fast breaks to open the
game and grab a 32-2 lead. The

Strength may very well give
way to strategy this week end ki
the Southern Conference Indoor
Track Meet when State rnanuev-j
ers to out point the strong Mary
land, Duke, and Carolina teams,
Clyde Garrison, defending
champion of the two mile event,
may be the upsetting strategy.
Wolf pack Coach Tom Frtz gib
bon of State may enter Garrison)
in the 880 and one mile runs,
leaving Garrison's specialty, the
two mile, to teammates "Buzz
Sawyer acid Joe Shockiey, two
greatly improved runners. Gar
rison won the two mile event last
year with a very good 9:46.1 and
has been rated as an almost sure j
repeater, but the "Wolf pack may
take the gamble of not running
the 140-pound speedster in this
event.
There is a strong possibUity ,
that Garrison may be entered to
compete against Tyson Creamer
of the favored Maryland team in
the Weil Mile. East November
the redheaded State hairier bolt
ed ahead of Creamer to finish
first in the Southern Conference
cross country meet. Garrison, if
entered in the Weil Mile, might
defeat Creamer again.

night and Saturday afternoon. j
Donnie Evans and Larry Shan- f
I non will . represent Carolina in
the 1500 and Evans is rated a
fine chance of taking the crown
away from champion Mae Jones
of Virginia .Tech. Evans has
never swum the event in compe
tition, but his times in practice
have been around 19:50, eom-
i pared to the 21:07 which Jones
swam last year.
Evans remained in Chapel Hill
last weekend working on the
1500, but SIuinon went to Phil
adelphia with the team aad fin
ished second to teammate Cecil
IMilton in the 440 against LaSalle.
The record for the event is 19:-
36 set by Jimmy Thomas in 1950.
