NEW YORK, May 16 In re sponse to requests for further guidance to entrants in its $5,000 nationwide contest for the best essays by college students on "The Meaning of Academic Freedom,' the National Council of Jewish Women todav issued a list of questions intended to suggest the scope and some major aspects of the subject. The questions are: What is the significance of aca demic freedom? ':' What responsibilities does it involve? On the part of the col lege? The teacher? The student? The outside community? The judges want to know the student's views of freedom on the college campus today. What is the nature and extent of such freedom? Do you believe there have been any noteworthy changes in recent years, or trends affecting it?. How, if at all, is it affected by the needs of national security? What is the relation of aca demic freedom to the local prob lem of preservation of democratic liberties? ' The judges do not wish to limit the area of discussion," it was explained, by Mrs. Irving M. Engel, national president of the council, 'but they do want con testants to feel free to discuss any and all aspects of the prob lem which the student writer be- , lieves to be pertinent." The committee of 'judges in cludes Supreme Court Justic Wil liam O.
