Poetry Readihg Slated Tonight
Everything from Shakespeare
sonnets to early "beat" poems by
Kenneth Patchen that's what is
on tap for tonight's poetry reading
at Gerrard Hall, besinninc? at 8
o'clock.
Under the general theme, "Car
nival of Humanity," the members
of Petite Dramatique will present
poems by Tennessee Williams,
Stephen Crane, James Agee, A .E
louseman, T. S. Eliot, Edna St.
Vincent Millay, Kenneth Fearing,
ablo Neruda, Shakespeare and
atchen.
lNeruoa, an exiled 1 Chilean, is
one of the world's poeCs though he
has received little reiognition in
this country. His longf poem, "Let
the Rail Splitter Awake," will be
read by Peter B. Youtig.
Another highlight wR be "a
choral reading" of Eliot's "The
Hollow Men" by Frank Clymer,
John Harris and William Monell.
Bongo drums will be used to ac
company the three voices in this
reading.
Other members of Petite Dram
atique participating in the show in
clude Margaret Starnes and Sally
Pullen. The production is under
the joint direction of Jack Jackson
and Ituss Link.
Gene Strassler will direct the
church choir in the Motet "Jesu,
Priceless Treasure" by Bach.
