The lecturer, Capt. Irving Johnson, USNR, sailed dowrr the Nile River filming the vast Delta country which is the home of a civilization and cuF ture that has existed for over 6,000 years. . He and photographers from the National Geographic Maga zine photographed ancient mon uments which archaeologists are struggling to preserve from the new Aswan Dam. Johnson's boat is the last foreign vessel to sail above the new dam before it submerges this area under millions of tons of water. Johnson includes in his film the sixTStory-high images '. of Abu Simbil, which UNESCO en gineers are cutting apart, stone by stone, and raising to a high er plateau. He will return to fulltime teaching and research in the School of Pharmacy. The resignation was an nounced by Chancellor Paul F. Sharp at a special Pharmacy School faculty meeting Friday afternoon. Dean Brecht came to Chapel Hill in 1939 as an instructor in pharmacy. It was his first teach ing position after receiving his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. He was promoted to full pro fessor in 1946 and became dean in 1950. Dr. Brecht resigned the deanship late last March but reconsidered his decision and withdrew the resignation one month later. Dr. Brecht is a 53-year-old native of Minnesota Lake, Minn., where he was a part-time phar macist for 18 years.
