of 2,500, and Gayle Bomar led
the Blue team to an exciting
21-14 win. '
The game was played on
' even terms, and it was the
lucky breaks the Blue team
got that made the difference.
The White team was the
first to score. After taking the
ball on their own 20, they
marched to the six of the Blue
where a holding penalty mov
ed them back to the 21.

yard to the 20, and Jeff
Beaver passed to David Riggs
at the 13.
Beaver hit Pete Davis in the
end zone on a down and out
pattern, and Ken Price ran
the extra point in to give the
whites an 8-0 lead.
The Blue team took the kick
off and marched from their 36
to the one of the White. On
fourth and one, the entire mid
dle of the White line led by
Tom Renedo, stopped Mark
Mazza for no gain and took
over the ball.
Beaver fumbled the ball on
the first play and Mike Smith
recovered for the Blue on the
White two. From there it took
one play for Mazza to ram the
ball in, and Bomar ran the
ball in for the extra point to
tie the game at eight all with
10:41 left in the half.
The game was played on
even terms for the next seven
minutes until Mike Horvat
picked off a Beaver pass and
returned it to the White 18.
Saulis Zemaitis got three
yards to the 15 and Mazza
one to the 14. Bomar then hit
Tom Caritfell in the end zone;
and the score stayed at 14-8
as Lewis Bush missed the
point after.
The Blues got their third and

final score late in the third
quarter as they marched 59
yards in 10 plays with Bomar
taking the ball in from the six
for the score. Bush converted
the extra point and the Blues
led 21-8.
With ten minutes left in the
fourth quarter, the Blue team
seemed to have everything go
ing their own way when Riggs
took a Landy Blank punt on
his own and broke loose down
the sideline for 55 yards to put
the ball on the 25 of the Blue,
Billy Federal got six to the
19, and Dempsey plunged for
seven more to the 13. Demp
sey took it on two plays to
the seven and Price went
around end for the score to
make it 21-14 with nine min
utes left in the game.
The White made one last
desperation drive and moved
the ball to the eight of the
Blues with 47 seconds left in
the game.
Dempsey was stopped at the
line of scrimmage for no gain,
and then the Whites lost three
to the eleven when a handoff
between Beaver and Federal
was fumbled and rolled out of
bounds with the Whites re
taining possession.
' Price then hit Davis with a
bullet pass on the two, and on
fourth and two with 26 seconds
left in the game, Price tried
to go around left end and was
stopped at the one.
Bomar then ran a sneak into
the middle of the line to end
the game.
"I was real pleased with the
effort the boys gave us this
afternoon," said Coach Bill
Dooley after the game. "I
thought our kicking game look
ed very poor and we've cer
tainly got a lot more work to
do there.
"If the boys give us this
kind of effort next year, we'll
be proud of them, win or lose."
