Despite the temporary stay, the appellate court will issue a' final ruling in the near future on the decision made Wednesday in Miami by District Judge Emett Choate. Morehead Planetarium By JOAN PAGE Tar Heels planning to visit the University of North Carolina campus here this holiday season to see the Morehead Planetarium's traditional Christmas program, 'Star of Bethlehem," have some added treats in store for them. The Morehead Planetarium show has been enlarged in celebration of its 20th season this year and a new campus tour service awaits visitors too. Brief discussions of the origins of many American Christmas traditions have been added to "Star of Bethlehem." Judge Bell asked attorneys for both the school system and HEW to expedite briefs in the case to effect a quick ruling by the appellate court. Palm Beach County's funds were deferred Aug. 20 when HEW notified the school system it was not progressing satisfactoruly toward total desegregation. Although approximately $1.5 million in federal funds will go to the Palm Beach County schools for 1968-69, county officials say they are missing out on more than $213,000 for new projects. An administrative hearing, scheduled for completion Friday, is being held in another section of Atlanta to determine if Palm Beach County has The presentation uses projection facilities at the Planetarium to take the audience on trips in time and space and to examine what the "Star" might have been. The Planetarium's Christmas story begins 20 centuries ago under the sky over Bethlehem of Judea as the Wisemen saw it in their search for a sign in the heavens. The new campus tour service, entitled "A Walk on the Hill," begins in the Morehead Planetarium lobby and proceeds around the campus to 11 key spots. Visitors may rent portable narrating machines and tour the grounds with instructions and a map. Stops are indicated at the key stops and a narrated tape message points out historical Case made satisfactory progress toward total desegregation of its school system. HEW claimed the county has been lax in accomplishing its desegregation and has thus deferred, until completion of the administrative hearing, all new funds to the county. An adverse ruling by HEW could see all federal funds to Palm Beach County discontinued. "The bothers only thing that me about HEW" Judge Bell told the attorneys, "is they go into a town and take over the management of the schools and draw lines all over the place" to force desegregation. He accused the agency of sending a "roving agent out of Washington" to tell area " 'to do like I say or you're not in compliance' " and federal money can be withheld. The tour then moves to the Alumni Building, the Old Well and Old East Dormitory and on to the Playmakers Theatre. Tours may be taken from 2 to 5 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. . Saturdays and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays. Cost for a one-hour individual or small group tour is $1. Hedgepeth. only four cases of the Hong Kong flu have been proven, but other cases are in the process of being verified. ' He noted that this was far below the epidemic level and that there were actually less spaces taken in the hospital Wednesday than the day before. The supply of serum to combat the A-2 Hong Kong Flu virus was exhausted as of 10:30 a.ra Wednesday. If and when more serum is obtained, an announcement will be made in the DTH. Dr. Hedgepeth advised that students should be vaccinated at home during the Christmas holidays if the serum is not Music Fraternity Begins Scholarship The James Michael Barham Scholarship has been established at the University here by the Alpha Rho Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, honorary music fraternity, Director of Student Aid William M. Geer announced today. The scholarship is a memorial to James Michael Barham, who died in 1961, during his junior year at the University. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard H. Barham of 227 Wildwood Ave., Burlington, Barham was vice president of Phi Mu Alpha, a member of the UNC Band, and was a student advisor in his dormitory. He was majoring in pre-medical studies.
