Thursday, September 17, 1970 THE DAILY TAR HEEL Page Nina i Believe It Or Not, Registration Smooth by Karen Jurgensen Staff Writer The impossible has happened. For the irst time in memory, no one is tomplaining violently about registration. There were the usual problems of long nes (all the way to the Institute of Government) and closed courses. Nevertheless, students were heard aying orientation was handled Wfficiently, the staff was courteous and Lven nice and professors were helpful. Even freshmen and transfer students seemed to know what courses to sign up Jor. There were widespread complaints about courses that had filled up before many hopefuls could sign up for them. An art major and a sociology major were seen leaving Woolen Gym in tears because they had been closed out of all their major courses. Collin Moller, a senior, commented on the relative smoothness of this year's registration. In his freshman year, he said, registration took three days and no one knew what to take. Freshmen seemed to be better informed this year, he said, with their courses pretty well lined up. As for closed courses, Miller said, "It's a mess. There are more students than there are classes. There are just too many students and not enough courses." Most people questioned echoed Miller's sentiments. "I got exactly , what I registered for except a room," said John Creagh, a sophomore from Pollocksville. "The biggest problem was finding a parking space to get into registration." ) : - - IAf V Please Send atlg ; afar nl To Name StreetBox No. One Semester $5 (Fall Only) ' City State Name of Person Placing Subscription Campus Address : ..Zip Code Payment Enclosed Cash Money Order Check Application tor Fair Semester Only So Hurry!
