Cobbs holds a 30-10 record, while Gooding is pushing at 29-1 1 . Assistant sports editor Al Thomas surged out of the cellar and into a three-way tie with student body president Tommy Bello and DTH staffer and part-time poet Lana Starnes. All three have records of 27-13. Sports writer Mark Whicker suffered a 5-5 week and was relegated to sixth place, at 26-14. R denotes Raleigh, G -Greensboro, D-Durham and CH -Chapel Hill "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" Stanley Kramer's comedy is just as funny now as when it first came out, and considering the state of comedy now, it is even more welcome. The fun comes in watching the many fine comedians try to upstage each other. Jonathan Winters wins hands down, and his destruction of a gas station is one of the funniest sequences on film. The movie is too long, but there is very little that can be cut.-R "On a Clear Day You Can See Forever" A movie that almost deserves respect for being so audaciously artificial. Vincette Minelli has obviously tried to revive the musical techniques of the fifties, and it doesn't qu'nc come off. That the movie succeeds as entertainment is due almost entirely to Barbra Streisand. Her singing has become annoyingly mannered, but she is still a great clown, and her performance is a joy to watch.-R,D s : :; XX SK:, JflKKft g WEAVER S SHOE REPAIR $ SERVICE it 403W. FrjnklinSl. One part is a character study of a fascinating man, intelligently and impartially scripted, and well played by George C. Scott. Unfortunately, he is surrounded by a mediocre war movie, filled with bad writing, bad acting, and spectacle for spectacle's sake. Still, it's well worth seeing for the character study.-CH "Move"-The new Elliott Gould movie has received bad reviews from most critics.-CH "Joe"-A satire on the hard-hat mentality that drew raves from the critics.-G "Way Out"-A study of heroin addiction enacted by former addicts. The acting is ot course less than the best professional quality, but is is much better than one would expect. The movie has a tragic grimness to it that is cumulatively rather powerful. The use of exaggerated scare tactics has been avoided, and it only turns preachy in the last five minutes. Worthwhile as a movie and as a human document. -G "The Strawberry Statement"-An obnoxious piece of garbage. Anyone pays to see this movie is contributin evil capitalist exploitation, exploitation of the youth market by meatheadsat M-G-M.-CH who; g Ut the', ARM $25,000 ANNUALLY DURING SPARE TIME National organb-ation working exclusively with the frater nity world seeks man to operate local office here. So writes Paul Cowan in this brutally honest and deeply personal political auto biography. In it, he tells about his experi ences at Harvard, in Israel, in Mississippi during the summer of 1964, with the Peace Corps, and how these experiences caused him, as he says, "to persist in redefining my loyalties through actions: to call myself an un-American (citizen of the world), to be willing to fight against my own government whenever that is necessary."
