Blue Devil stars Bob Wheeler and Mike Graves won the race as they crossed the finish line arm in arm, eight seconds ahead of Tar Heel captain Larry Widgeon, who finished with a time of 25:08. UNCs Tony Waldrop took fourth place, running a 25:32 race. Duke wrapped up its victory by grabbing the fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth spots. Blue Devils Larry Forrester (26:02), Phil Wilson (26:03) and Roger Beardmore (26:04) scored, while Phil Sparling (26:16) and Steve Wheeler (26:23) served as displacers. Tar Heel runners occupied the next six slots. The varsity game follows a 1:00 match between the Tar Heel freshmen and New Hanover High School. Jacksonville went undefeated last year, and will probably bring another fine team north. Coach Marvin AUen's Tar Heel team is playing its best soccer in a month, as Louis Bush has completely recovered from his injury. Bush scored three goals on Friday to lead Carolina to 3n 8-0 stomping of East Carolina. The former Ail-American from Brazil began the Tar Heel scoring in the first period on an unassisted goal.
