A group of students and faculty members have derided to hold an informal discussion group on W.H. Auden's woris at 2 p.m. on Wed., Feb. 24. Tr.i . -ormal session will be held in the South Lounge of the Carolina Union, Dr, CM. Armitage, professor of English, will help lead the discussion. AH' interested students may attend and refreshments will be served. GSS rush starts tonight in Conner All coeds are invited to attend spring rush of the UNC colony of Gamma Sigma Sigma (GSS) service sorority Tuesday and Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the lobby of Connor dorm. Rushees will be introduced to the sorority colony at the Tuesday night, social. Sunday dress is appropriate. The sorority's service functions will be explained Wednesday night, service project night. Rushees will help make Easter baskets , for Holmes Day Care Center in Carrboro. Members will explain - the group's other service projects, the largest of which are the Campus Chest fund raising activities in the spring. Invitations will be distributed Thursday. . An orientation program for new pledges wiH be held that night. Community center becomes a reality A Chapel HiH church group decided to save funds for a church organ a little more than two years ago. And today, they have what they want -a community center. Sound confusing? UNC student Marylin Pace, a worker with the group, explains, The Church of Reconciliation here in Chapel Hill decided to start this project rather than buy an organ because it meant more to the community." Neighborhood House, as the project is called, is performing needed services for the black community in Carrboro today. Located at the corner of Church and Carr streets, it "helps wherever help is needed,'.' says Miss Pace. She cited such examples as income tax assistance during this time of the year. Other activities include arts and crafts for area children, sewing classes, tutoring programs for disadvantaged students, teen dances and parties and get-togethers for elderly citizens. UNC personality Kyle Frank win conduct this last function. Neighborhood House is supervised by Mrs. Anna Mae Williams, a local member of the community. Miss Pace and another UNC student, Chrysandra Gantt, are volunteers from the School of Social Work. Neighborhood House has one important problem, says Miss Pace. The group is supported completely by donations. Funds are needed for educational materials and new projects. Contributors may call Miss Pace at 933082. Concert features violinist, pianist The University's Tuesday evening music series will present Ann Woodward, violist, and Marvin Blickenstaff, pianist, Wednesday at 8 p.m. in Hill Hall. Their program includes Sonata in G Major, BWV 1027, by Bach; Sonata in E-flat Major, Opus 120, No. 2, by Brahms; Trio in E-flat Major, K. 498 (for viola, clarinet and piano) by Mozart; and Sonata, Opus 1 1, No. 4 by Hindemith.
