Formal rush for 28 UNC fraternities
will open Tuesday, Wednesday and
Thursday nights to all interested males
with the exception of first semester
freshmen.
Inter-Fraternity Council HFC)
Chairman Tom Nash said rush is mainly
for the benefit of junior transfers and
those who have not decided about
pledging.
"Since the houses are allowed to
pledge boys as soon as they make a 2.0
average, a lot of guys have already
pledged up," said Nash.
Since classes began, freshmen have
been allowed unrestricted contact with
any fraternity. This contact will continue
until the first day of spring rush.
During the rush period, rushes may not
visit fraternity houses except during
actual rushing hours. Contact between
rushees and brothers is limited to phone
conversations and visits by fraternity men
to rushees' living quarters.
Hours for formal rush are from 7 p.m.
to 10 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, and
from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday.

A 21 -year-old Chapel Hill resident was
arrested last week and charged with
possession of narcotics.
Allan Dale Crisp of B-9 Northampton
Plaza Apartments was taken to the
County Jail in Hillsborough in lieu of
$7,000 bond, according to Chapel Hill
police.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for
Wednesday in District Court here.
According to Detectives Bill Creel and
Don Tripp, approximately 55 bags of
marijuana, one large bag of kief, 25
bloks of opium and nine blocks of
has.iish were allegedly found at Crisp's
residence during a police search.
Police Chief William D. Blake said
Friday it was "the most opium and
maybe the most hashish" ever found in
one raid in Chapel Hill.

Try. Try hard.
The only thing we can think of
is what we make. The Swingline
"Tot 50" Stapler. 98C in 1950.
98C in 1971.
And it still comes with 1000 free
staples and a handy carrying
pouch. It staples, tacks and
mends. It's unconditionally
guaranteed. It's one of the
world's smallest staplers.
And it's the world's biggest
seller. Could be that's why it
hasn't gone up in price in
21 years.
If you're interested in something
a little bigger, our Cub Desk
Stapler and Cub Hand Stapler
are only $1.98. Both Tot and
Cub Staplers are available at
Stationery, Variety and College
Bookstores.
