The latest living-learning proposal that
would combine residence and academic
experiences under one living unit has
been offered to the Boul ton-Cask in
committee studying the concept by the
Henderson Residence College.
A survey was circulated through
Henderson residents last week in which it
was found that more than 85 per cent of
the residents favored the establishment of
a living-learning experiment in their
dorms.
A Hederson spokesman said that
living-learning would offer "a. unique
opportunity for living on campus a
way to get away from the classroom idea
of knowledge."
The Henderson plan also includes the
following proposals:
Anyone within the college who
disagrees with the idea be given priority
or rooms in any North Campus dorm
after those dorm residents have chosen
rooms.
A night clerk be available to open up
all three dorms after closing hours.
Reduce freshman quota in all dorms
in the college to 25 per cent. This will

The new CGC - budget was also

Besides Henderson Residence College,
Pi Lar...Ja Phi fraternity and
jrescnUiives from the Academic
Kcsidencc Area (ARA) from the fourth
floor of Morrison lkrmitory have also
submitted living-learning suggestions,
Donald Boulton, dean of Student
Affairs, and Robert Kepncr, director of
Residence Life were supposed to meet
with Henderson Residents Wednesday
night to discuss the proposals further.
CGC member Ernie Patterson stated,
"Those groups and clubs that will receive
academic credit or who bring a great deal
of recognition to the University should be
supported by the University and not by
student fees.
A tentative timetable was suggested for
the budget preparation and hearings. As
suggested, the budget would be presented
April 17. Student Body President Ford
-Runge suggested more frequent meetings
to speed up work on the budget.
"Students want action, they want to
see results. This timetable may convince
people that the CGC is no different than
the SL, Runge said. "We need to move
the budget through in record time and get
on to other things. Once we lose the
students confidence, it 'will be rough to
get it back.
