"We hope to personalize the academic advisory process, Bradley said. She belief that students with problems will feel more at ease talking with another student. All student advisers will serve an internship with a General College adviser to learn University and South Building procedures. Student advisers will help with registration, withdrawal and pre-registration problems, said Bradley. General College advisers may refer their advisees to a student academic counselor for any further questions or information. Bradley said advisers names and their academic areas will also be posted in the committee office. A tutorial clearinghouse is also planned by the academic counselors. Bradley encouraged interested tutors and tutorees to call or come by the office. Pay is to be arranged between tutors and students, she added. Another project of the committee is a review of the academic self-counseling manual. Ten different professors and ten students are studying the manual to suggest changes to General College. , The academic counseling committee now shares an office with the Chapel Hill Draft Counseling Service in 2264-A Suite A of the Union. Its hours are Monday through Wednesday from 2 to 5 p.m., and Thursday from 10 to I p.m. The telephone number is 933-5550. r If i 1 i o ) i"!iflrii( - I- 1 1 ! j j 1 f : 9 ' ;vi u Hi Mf-.V! Bob Joesteing and Sharon Pigott. The two students, calling their effort Citizens for a Rational Presidency, are trying to get letters from as many different types of people as they can. V'e want to prove that the movement to impeach Nixon is not just a radical student movement.' said Pigott. There will be a box in the Y-Court for people who want to write letters. Letters addressed to a specific congressman will be given to that congressman personally. All other letters will be given to the Judiciary Committee. The UNC students, working in a co-operative effort with people from Greenville. New Bern. Salisbury. Raleigh, and Durham, think that the letters will be very helpful. Bob Joesteing, one of the leaders in the effort, said. "Congressmen are far -more impressed by someone vho writes out their thoughts, even if it is only a single line, than by people who sign a petition because someone asks them to. E.B. Riggsbce, Lt.
