Since their premiere performance at the National Entertainment Conference convention last February, the trio has been an overwhelming success, playing to full houses across the United States and Canada. Pianist Mac Frampton, a Bronze Medal winner in the 1969 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, heads the talented ensemble. After his competition success, he made his orchestral debut as soloist with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, receiving rave notices. Numerous solo and guest appearances with national orchestras and a six-month tour as musical director of the road company of I Do! I Do!" led, finally, to the formation of his own group. - . The Triumvirate's concerts reveal that it's really Frampton's show, but his sidemen never go unnoticed. Phil Perkins, a graduate of the Cincinnati Conservatory and former percussionist with the Cincinnati Symphony, provides sensational backup on drums. Doug Smith, a concert pianist-turned-bassist, and transcendental meditation devotee, is the group's bass player.
