"The liberated man doesn't always 'have to worry about what will happen to his family if he is fired, if he knows his wife is contributing to the income." American men have been going through a rash of impotence since the women's movement started because of their inability to feel more sexually turned on by a woman who's turned on to him, Farrell said. "Men have been brought up to define their manhood as the man, the problem solver, committee chairman Lisa Bradley, will also offer courses that vary in hours of classtime per week. "We hope this will do away with some of the rigidity of the present system," Bradley said. Efforts to acquaint students with the pros and cons of the switch are tentatively set to begin Wed., Feb. 13, when committee members will speak to the residents of the Granville Towers complex. The main objectives of the new system, explained Bradley, are "to get the students more engaged in each class by reducing course load from five to four, and to allow more intensive study of the subject material by increasing the number of class-hours per week." As well as a campus-wide question answering tour the committee is also printing 5000 copies of a two-page informative brochure "to tell students why we want the change and what some of the priorities of the reform will be. "Our campus information tour is designed to let students know the possibilities of such a system and to urge them to let their impetus be felt by the Faculty Council," Bradley said. - The Faculty Council has requested an inclusive poll of student opinion on the proposed changes from the ARC before the Mar. 22 debate date The Council will also vote on academic reform this spring, but the date has not been announced. "They have very few resources tor dealing with a woman who expresses herself fully." . , Farrell said he didrA think men's liberation would have evolved without the women's movement. Men's and women's liberation have got to work together there is very little conflict, he said. A large number of women are interpreting liberation as adopting the masculine value system, which is what 'we're worried about," Farrell said. "Men have a lot to learn by adopting some of the traditional feminine values, such as learning how to listen," he said. Farrell said the movement will have a very real effect on society if it causes 10-15 per cent of the men to change their priorities. "There's too much competition today capitalism ' and masculinity are tied together," he said. "Masculinity is defined very much as getting to the top of whatever ladder you're on," he said. He said the assertive element of jnasculinity should be maintained, but men shouldn't feel they have to prove themselves as men.
