Camous Ca i a For social work A $259,924 HEW grant has been awarded to the UNC School of Social Work for its work study program. The grant award was announced Wednesday by UNC School of Social Work Dean Morton Teicher and Secretary of the N.C. Department of Human Resources David Flaherty. The grant finances establishment of a work study center at N.C. Central University in Durham beginning with the 1974-75 academic year. This will be UNCs first educational program on a predominately black campus. VThe new program will make it Trip to Orleans to get underway Tonight at 6:45 when the 55 France leaves New York City on one of her last transatlantic crossings, the students of the first UNC Year at Orleans Program will be aboard. The 27 UNC students will arrive in Le Havre on the morning of Thursday, Sept. 12 and will travel by bus to Orleans. They will live in Orleans, a small city near Paris, for a year. "We are indeed pleased that the Department of Human Resources was instrumental in securing this federal grant for the continuation and expansion of the work study program. This program has been instrumental in allowing more employees in the human service field to continue their education and become better prepared to serve our state's people." Chapel Hill's UNC School of Social Work offers the only graduate preparation in this field in North Carolina.
