Ctsff Writer Two more Campus Governing Council (CGC) members resigned yesterday, and another seat was declared vacant, bringing the total number of CGC seats to be filled in the upcoming Oct 2 election to seven. In a surprise development at Tuesday night's CGC meeting, Speaker Johnny' Kaleel announced the resignations of : Paul Stam, chairman of the Judicial Committee, and Larry Meisner, chairman of the Rules Committee. Bill Strickland and Ben Steelman were appointed acting chairmen of the two : committees. Stam, one of the more outspoken CGC representatives, cited both time factors and personal reasons for stepping down. A third year law student, Stam said his resignation was "a possibility I'd; been planning for a few days." Stam said the Council was taking -more of his time than he felt he could afford to give up, but also cited his' "ability to act as a representative' as a reason for resigning. f "On the important questions, I had been unable to obtain a majority to support my point of view," Stam said. "I'm shirking my responsibility, but I thought my district could be better served by someone who is better at persuasion." Meisner, a second year planning student, represented Graduate District I, a conglomeration of 17 diverse graduate departments. Meisner said he reluctantly resigned due to a class conflict he registered for a transportation course that was given only on Tuesday evenings, when the CGC meets. "I felt if I can't come to the meetings, I wouldn't be doing my job as a CGC representative," Meisner said. If it wasn't for this conflict, I would be happy to continue." He added he is willing to continue working in Student Government if he can help in some capacity. In addition, Robin Dorff, who represented Graduate District VI, has been presumed to have resigned. The CGC office declared his seat vacant Tuesday. The office has been unable to locate him since, the beginning of the semester. Vacancies also exist in Graduate (HIGHEST RATING)" N Y.
