Tag fee is $ 1 4, plus an additional S 1 for the
Chapel Hill or Carrboro sticker. Chapel Hill
residents with cars registered in other
counties of North Carolina may pick up
Chapel H ill stickers for S 1 at the tax office in
the Municipal Building.
For an additional $10 fee, car owners may
order personalized license plates, with any
buildings is $225,000.
Construction was begun in August, 1974
by Electrical Contractors of Durham. Their
trailer and two sheds are now parked in the
Union parking lot
Work in Murphey and Hill halls is
finished and should be completed in Wilson
by the first week in April.
The new lights will be cooler burning, use
.less electricity and provide more light. The
tenth level of the stacks has new lights and
looks like a supermarket, compared with the
movie-house lighting in the lower stacks.
A check revealed the old wiring in the
three buildings was in disrepair, although
safe according to building codes.

reasonable letter or number combination
not already in use. Delivery time is usually
several months.
The 1975 sale is the start of five-year
license plates. Instead of buying license
plates each year, citizens will be mailed a
renewal sticker each year for 1976 through
1 979, to affix to the plate. This is expected to
save the state several million dollars a year in
production and metal costs. Some states on
the five-year plate system have used the
plates for up to 15 years.
The plates have a new slogan, "First in
Freedom" embossed on the plates, which
commemorates North Carolina's role as a
leader of the American revolution with the
issuance of the Mecklenburg Declaration.
