The Carnival will be held Thursday, April 17, from 6 to 9 pjn. on Ehringhaus field. The event is sponsored by the Alpha Phi Omega (APO) service fraternity to raise money for Campus Chest charities. Nearly 30 fraternities, sororities and residence halls have contributed booths for the Carnival. The booths will contain casinos, balloon tosses, a Bop the Badman game and a massage parlor. That's right, a massage parlor. For those of you aspiring to follow Christopher Columbus's footsteps, the grand prize for the Carnival is a Super Shark sailboat. Door prizes include a television, a blender and a toaster oven among other items. Door prize tickets may be purchased at the Carnival for 25 cents. Fifteen kegs of beer are to be given away at the carnival also. Cotton candy, popcorn and other food will be available. Trophies will be given to the fraternity, sorority and residence hall whose booth raises the most money for the event. A trophy will also be given to the most original booth. Proceeds will be donated to the Campus Chest, which will distribute the money to lilteen local charities. . Last year's carnival raised more than $5,000 for the charities, and APO is hoping lor an even better turn out this year. Campus Housing Available for Commencement Visitors UNC alumni and parents and friends of 1975 graduates will be able to stay in University housing during commencement activities beginning Thursday evening, May 8, and ending at 9 a.m. Monday, May 12. Alumni will be housed in Morrison, and parents and friends will stay in Hint on James. The $6 fee, payable at the time of check-in, will provide bed linen, pillows and shower for the four days. Graduating students should secure housing applications for their parents and friends at the Housing Office in Carr Building. Alumni may get applications from the Alumni Association or at Morrison at check-in time. Spaces will be reserved on receipt of the application. The housing office requests that applications be turned in by May 1, 1975. Senior Week Planned To release pre-exam anxiety. Senior Week will be sponsored April 21-24 by the Carolina Union and the Class of 1975. Finger painting in the Pit will launch the week's activities on Monday. The Union will sponsor a beach dance in Carmichael Auditorium at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Performers will include Cornelius Brothers and 'Sister Rose, the Tarns, the Drifters and the Showmen. Admission is $1.50 and tickets are available at the Union desk. Wednesday's activities include a car bash from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the corner of the Union parking lot closest to the Pit. For a quarter, a student can hit the car twice with a sledgehammer. Ice cream sundaes will be sold for 10 cents in the Pit from noon to I p.m. The Union is sponsoring a concert by the Kinks at 8 p.m. Thursday in Carmichael Auditorium. Tickets are $3. University Will Provide Summer Storage Space The Department of University Housing will again offer free storage facilities for the summer in each of its campus buildings. Locksmiths are presently installing better locks and improving security facilities to prevent theft of stored items, housing director James Condie said Monday. To get the free service, students must sign a contract which stipulates that the University and its agents will not be responsible for loss or damage under any conditions. Students must withdraw their property by the first day of classes, or they will be subject to a $3 per month service charge. They may only store personal items, and will be responsible for moving items in and out of the storage areas. Socialists to Discuss Forming Local Chapter of DSOC Local members of the national Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee (DSOC) will hold an open discussion at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Room 213 of the Union on the possibility of forming a local DSOC chapter in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro area. The DSOC is a national organization of socialists who are working to develop a movement within the Democratic party as a vehicle for social change. The national organization is led by author Michael Harrington.
