Approximaiely 120 people attended a
regional conference on homosexuality
counseling here this past weekend, Carolina
Gay Association President Don Chauncey
said Sunday.
The conference was co-sponsored by two
UNC student organizations, CGA and the
Human. Sexuality Information and
Counseling Service.
Chauncey said the purpose of the
conference was to familiarize people who
counsel gays with the resources available to
them, discuss the concept of homosexuality
and counseling in a positive manner and
exchange ideas between gays and straights.

people who work with or counsel gays were
present at a conference which dealt with

BEIRUT, Lebanon Syria tightened its
control over Lebanon's cease-fire Sunday in
the wake of a Palestinian guerrilla attack on
the offices of two leftist Beirut newspapers in
which seven persons, one of them a senior
editor, were killed.

night's attack by Syrian-backed Saiqa
guerrillas on the offices of the newspapers

HEW meeting
rescheduled
A scheduled presentation of the
consolidated university's semi-annual
desegregation report to the U .S. Department
of Health, Education and Welfare Friday
was postponed until at least today.
Cleon Thompson, UNC acting vice
president for civil services, said Sunday that
H EW called off the meeting, saying that
other work had to be completed first.
He said that HEW would contact him this
morning to set up another meeting, w hich he
said could be as soon as this afternoon.
Thompson will be 'eebmpamed on the
trip., by Charles R., f Coble,; associate tvice
president for planning.
HEW and the University had scheduled
the meeting last week so that UNC officials
could present their semi-annual progress
report on desegregation and answer any
questions the agency might have on the U NC
desegregation plan. :

Gerry, acting director of HEW's Office of
