Hilliard said Monday he submitted the report to Town Manager Kurt Jenne about a month ago. He added that the report contained a more specific policy rule for officers carrying their weapons while off duty. H e declined to comment on the rest of the report until the Board of Aldermen have considered it. Jenne said Monday he had not examined the department's report, but he expects to submit it to the board within two weeks. Alderman Robert Epting requested the report from the town manager at the Jan. 10 meeting of the board. He said he wanted to see both the SB1 report and a general report on the policy of off duty officers carrying weapons. Chief Hilliard said the SBI report is not included in the police report. The report is priviledge information, Hilliard said, and even he doesn't have a copy. The department has its weapon policy because officers are sworn to uphold the law 24 hours a day, Hilliard said. He added that "probably 90 per cent of the police departments in the state have the same kind of policy for their officers." ln.Oi nil mum. i m -miit'l.Wi..iMil n" f!iilt-4 'Mtrilslt silt?
