Two more wins clinch, host roie for CaroUmm Thursday, July 21, 1977 J It wasn't funny, but Carolina finished its regular season in North Carolina Summer Collegiate baseball with a pair of laughers. Well, one laugher for sure. Having trounced Louisburg earlier in the week, the Tar Heels returned to Boshamer last Wednesday night and put still another nail in the league coffin by gaining a 9-5 win. But. the game was not without its moments. The H urricanes jumped to a 3-0 lead in the second inning, but Carolina hoisted a six pot in the bottom half to gain control. Then, hen the Hurricanes came back with two n! rfW HELD J I ls OVER W fi - I i FV 3:00 if Wf 1 1 5:00 X ill I h I 4 l. 7:00 In 9'10 PG FROM CINEMA 5 f EAST FRANKUN STREET (jj J ' lhlt'-". - ANDWAra OUT OF THE SKY COMES THE SCREENS MOST JCflB3L SPECTACLE OF MEN 4th WEEK 2:40 6:00 9:20 NO PASSES AB2UDGETOOFAR rssp Coming Soon "Man on the Roof" Detective Thriller From Sweden. i more runs, pitcher Blaine Smith started to use his change-up; the switch was too much for Louisburg. "They were hitting his fast ball and his curve early," said Coach Mike Roberts, "but after he started using his change-up, he pitched real well." Smith hiked his record to 8-0. Carolina got the most of its eight hits in the game from Steve Beach, who had hit two home runs against Louisburg in the previous meeting of the two teams. He drove in two runs during the first rally with a single, and Jim Atkinson, who has been hitting everything, added another two-run single. Kevin Caddell, who had been in the midst of a slump paramount to Chapel Hill's drought, got two hits, as did Lloyd Brewer. The last place Bulldogs of Atlantic Christian dared to threaten the placid home of the first-place Tar Heels on Saturday. They even went as far as to get a 4-0 lead. Soon, however, they found out a 'ast place team isn't supposed to act like a title contender, and they went into El Foldo. The Bulldogs committed four errors, including an overthrow at first base with the bases loaded to score three runs. Meanwhile, the UNC pitchers mowed through 15 AC batters via strikeout, including six of the last seven. David Kirk, the third of four UNC pitchers, got credit for the win. Clay Johnson, the pitcher who did the most damage (six strikeouts), got the save. Another slumping batter. Laird Williams, broke out of it with a three-for-four performance which included a double. Only three more hits came from Tar Heel bats. Atkinson came through once again, this time with a double. With Carolina down 5-2 in the sixth inning, catcher Dwight Lowry scored when Steve Beach got to first on an error. After Brewer reached on a fielder's choice, Phil Griffith walked to load the bases. Mike Fox hit a grounder to the shortstop which he errored. By the time AC got to the ball, the game was over for all intents and purposes. It has been this type of baseball that has made prospects for the fall and spring seasons look promising. While most of the Summer League teams offer one good pitcher and maybe one or two good hitters, the Tar Heels have proven that they can come from all directions. When one hitter falters, someone will take his place. If a starter goes wild, there is a sufficient relievers' corps to come to his aid. Meanwhile. Coach Roberts says one goal of his team has not been reached for this summer. "Our team goal was to go 30-0. We at least wanted to get as close to that as possible. Well, we didn't make it but we did get close." nDiHMJiwniguijuimi, iwiui,,i wiiiiiiiiulu 11 ,hwbj, iiiiwuijuiiihi jiiii iiiiiipmumui uni-iiyy juujnium ' """ ' ' ' - "" "" " - i 1 1 U is f I fa i ' s f . . .y. Psalms 2 and Acts 425 'The Lord is well pleased for His Righteousness sake: HE WILL MAGNIFY THE LAW AND MAKE IT HONORABLE!" So spake the Prophet Isaiah when in vision "he looked afar off" and saw the Glory of Christ's Kingdom, chapter 42:21. God was well pleased for His Righteousness' sake, and that was manifested and revealed by Magnifying and making Honorable God's Law and Ten Commandments. "HOW FORCIBLE ARE RIGHT WORDS?, said Job in chapter 6:25. Consider the Right and Forcible Words in the following concerning the word "AUTHORITY!" What is the meaning of the word "AUTHORITY?" By Authority we mean an unquestionable, unconditional power. An Authority is Absolute! When we stand before it there is no possible appeal! To speak of 'relative authority' is like speak ing of a 'square circle! There is no appeal from authority; it demands unqualified obedience! It is a contradiction of terms. "From this it follows: that there can be only one Authority, The Authority of God! God created the world and man and He rules in sovereignty over alk THE MOST HIGH RULETH IN THE KINGDOM OF MEN, AND HE GIVETH IT TO WHOMSOEVER WILL." Daniel 4:17. His holy will is the law of human life. "But the Bible also teaches that God has delegated some of His Authority to certain men first to parents; then to magistrates. When they exercise their authority under obedience to God, they represent God Himself, and to obey them is to obey God. It would be easy to set forth that this is the teaching of The Bible " The teaching of The Bible with regard to parental and ma jesterial authority throws light on the fact that authority is ' given and cannot be chosen. We do not choose our parents; we do not choose the country in which we are born. When we are born into the world, our parents, our country and rules are given to us and cannot be evaded or avoided." Dr. David Hedegard. In the above we brought you some words of Chr st He spoke, or were spoken of Him by His Servant Isaiah back in the Old Testament, with the effort to make some helpful comment Now we quote from Him Words beginning with Revelation 22:14: "BLESSED ARE THEY WHICH DO HIS COMMANDMENTS, THAT THEY MAY HAVE A RIGHT TO THE TREE OF LIFE, AND MAY ENTER IN THROUGH THE GATES OF THE CITY, FOR WITHOUT ARE DOGS, AND SORCERERS, AND WHOREMONGERS (BETTER CHECK UP ON YOUR SEX CONDUCT), AND IDOLATORS, AND WHOSOEVER LOVETH AND MAKETH A LIE - so speaks the Risen and Glorified Christ Jesus in Revelation 22:14, 15. If you claim to be a Christian in sincerity would suggest that you diligently see to it that God and His Christ's AUTHORITY OVER YOU IS CLEAR AND NOT CLOUDY! P. O.
