There will be a Faculty-Student Tea at 2 a.m.
in the Faculty Lounge. Room 569. Hamilton Hall.
The tea will be sponsored by the Undergraduate
History Association. Everyone is welcome.
The Department of Statistics presents a
Colloquium at 4 p.m. in 324 Phillips Hall. Prof.
M ichael Woodroofe of the University of M ichigan
will speak on "A One-Armed Bandit Problem with
a Concomitant Variable" Refreshments will be
served at 3:30 p.m. in 316 Phillips'Hall. Everyone
is cordially invited to attend.
The Carolina Bridge Club will hold a
duplicate bridge game at 7:30 p.m. in Room 207 ol
the Carolina Union. All bridge players, regardless
of playing ability, are welcome. Fractional
masterpoints will be awarded to winners. There
will be a 50-cent admission charge for UNC
students and 75 cents for all others. If you need a

The Carolina Gay Association will have the
first general meeting of the year at 7 p.m. in Room

There will be a Black Ink Mini Yearbook

The first meeting of the UNC Astronomy Club
will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Room 265. Phillips
Hall. Dr. Wayne Christiansen of the Department
of Physics and Astronomy will speak on "The
Search for Extraterrestrial Life." All persons are
invited to attend.
Refocus. the first of a series of Bible studies
sponsored by the Baptist Campus Ministry, will
be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Battle H ouse. 203 Battle
Lane, both Monday and Tuesday evenings. The
study will focus on Biblical words which are often
misunderstood. Students are encouraged to select
the night most convenient for them to attend.
The Fine Arte Festival is interviewing lor
administrative positions at 6 p.m. in Room 1.
Swain Hall. Undergraduates and graduate

All students who oppose the threatened increase

Lambeth selected to speak
at University Day ceremony
Thomas W, Lambeth, chairman of the
UNC Board of Trustees, will be the featured
speaker on University Day, Oct. 12.
Chancellor N. Ferebee i Taylor announced
Sunday the selection of Lambeth.
University Day is the annual ceremony
commemorating the laying of the
cornerstone-of the Old fast Building in 1 793.
Other features of the day will include
special music presentations, an academic
procession and distinguished alumni
awards. Taylor will preside over the
ceremony.
Lambeth, of Raleigh and Washington,
D.C., is administrative assistant to U.S.
Rep. Richardson Preyer of Greensboro.
A 1957 graduate of UNC. Lambeth has
been a member of the UNC Board of
Trustees since it was formed in 1972. He
served on the Board of Trustees of the

Policy Research.
Born in Clayton, Lambeth was educated
in the public schools of High Point,
Thomasville. Washington and Statesville,
where his father served as teacher, coach and
city and county school superintendent.
At UNC, Lambeth was active in student
publications, political affairs and service
organizations. While a graduate student here
in 1957-58. he served as director of the
GrahamMemorialStudent Union.
