"If I w ere a student I'd be quite concerned about
the quality of the consideration which the issues
are getting." Leonard said. "I don't think a single
committee can deal with these issues and do it well
in the short time provided."
The Educational Policy Committee is scheduled
to report on the drop policy at the council's
October meeting, on the Honor Code at the
November meeting and on the pass-fail option in
December.
"I'm not sure we can give proper consideration
to all of these issues," said Assoc. Prof. Mark
Appelbaum. a member of the Educational Policy
Committee.
Adams said Wednesday that the committee has
been asked to do "quite a bit."
"In order of priorities," he said. "I think that
pass-fail should be pushed back and other things
done first."
Adams said it might be possible to implement
changes in the Honor Code by the spring if the
report were received by December.
. "If the Faculty Council approved the plan it
would have to go to the chancellor and the

that changes in the H onor Code must be approved
early in January to go into effect for the 1978
spring semester.
"I would personally not have minded if it (the
Honor Code proposal) had come directly to the
council for consideration from the Committee on
Student Conduct," Henry C. Boren, secretary of
the faculty, said Wednesday. "But some members
felt it should have some broader consideration
before it was passed on."
"I don't think we could give it as careful an
examination before a large body as we could in a
committee." Adams said. "We want an open
debate. We hope there will be people who can
answer questions that are raised! when the issue
goes before the council) because of their study in
the committee."
Adams said it is also important that the
question be resolved before a new student body
president takes office in the spring. "The student
leaders now in place have worked with this for the
past year. New officers would have to get
acquainted with the proposals, and that would
take some time." he said.
