Laundry driveway; West Cameron Avenue near the Pittsboro Street intersection; West Franklin Street near the West Robeson intersection and West Franklin Street near the east driveway of McDonald's restaurant. The placement of a bus rone near University Square also was altered to correct a sight problem. Parking was also limited on South Cameron Avenue to provide a right turn lane, at the intersection of Cameron Avenue and Ransom Street. I he board passed a motion to set a policy for cooperation between police forces. A N.C. statute passed this year grants worker's compensation to police officers who are injured duringdetached duty. The new policy means that Chapel Hill would provide insurance for officers who are called to duty in another town and vice versa. Police and fire department officials also w ould be helped by a project for the display of house numbers, according to a report given at the meeting. The board voted to fund a project on mandatory number display tor the 1978-79 fiscal year. This project would eliminate problems, especially in times of emergency, concerning the lack of block and house identifications and inconsistent street numbering patterns. By LOU 11ARNED Staff Writer The path has been cleared for the latest element of relief planned for the Chapel H ill housing crunch. The Chapel Hill Board of Alderman Monday night approved a special-use permit for the construction of an apartment complex on Howell Street within walking distance of the UNC campus. However, planning Director Michael Jennings said the development's proximity to the campus and the building designs would be harmonious to the character of the area, therefore, it would not harm the value of surrounding property. Jennings also pointed out that the development would have no immediate effect on the water supply because the water system will not be hooked up until 1980. In other action, the board voted to amend the town traffic code to correct several sight distance problems. The changes would restrict parking at John C.
