Schorr will speak about First Amendment rights. The lecture is sponsred jointly by the Chancellor's Commiitee on Established Lectures and the I978 Carolina Symposium. The symposium this year has centered on methods ol personal and public communication. The Weil Lecture, an annual event at UNC since I9I4, is sponsored by the Weil family of Goldsboro. Past speakers have included Eleanor Roosevelt and Supreme Court Justice Felix Frankfurter. Schorr, who began his CBS career in the early 1950s, resigned from the network after the 1976 publication of a suppressed House Intelligence Committee report dealing with CIA and FBI scandals. Schorr arranged for publication of the documents, call the Pike Report, against the, wishes of the White House. CIA, House of Representatives and CBS News. Since his resignation. Schorr has won acclaim from various organizations for his refusal to identify his source. He has received the "First Amendment Award" of the Society of Professional Journalists (Sigma Delta Chi) and the "Profiles in Courage Award" of the John F.
