The newly formed Public Relations Committee will
be chaired by Bill Ragland, a junior from Raleigh; the

and the Video Tape Committee by Karen Bowers, a
sophomore from Hillsborough.
Ellis said the Public Relations Committee was
formed to serve as a link between the Union and the
University community. The Recreation Committee was
created because the Activities Board saw a need to
coordinate the present administrative handling of the
College Bowl and game tournaments. .
l-arry Lillis, newly appointed president of the Carolina
Union, said he looked for flexibility and leadership in .
choosing the 1981-1982 chairpersons of the eleven
Union committees, last week.
"1 tried to gain a sense of how well, the person ap
proaches conflict, their ability to grow, their ability to
work with others from different backgrounds and their
ability to influence others,' he said.
The chairpersons are Donna Devereuax, a junior from

WASHINGTON (AP) President Ronald Reagan, described as alert and
in good spirits, was running a slight fever Monday and doctors took the pre
caution of giving him additional antibiotics, although they said there was no
evidence of infection in his lung.
A morning chest .X-ray showed "modest clearing" of lung particles pro
bably dried blood or damaged tissue along the track of the bullet that en
tered his left lung in an assassination attempt last Monday.

At the hearing, the five trial court members
preside over the proceedings and hear the evi
dence, testimony and statements. After all the
evidence has been presented, the five members
deliberate and decide on a verdict.
A verdict of "guilty" requires a three-fifths
vote of the court members. If the verdict is
"guilty," the student may appeal the court's
decision to the University Hearings Board

Manley
From page 1
"The Soviet Union is so preoccupied with
its troubles in Afghanistan, with its own
economic problems. It is not on any
expansionist kick in the Western
Hemisphere," Manley said.
Manley said, "there was a scarcely,
concealed delight among many power
brokers in Washington that this troublesome
fellow (Manley) is out of the way," when he
was defeated last year. He blasted the lack of
communication between the developed
countries of the Third World.
"There is no dialogue. We're not talking
about the same thing," he said.
One of the answers to the problems of
world economic inequity, Manley said, was
to "release the Third World by economic
development," which would, in turn, help
those countries which invested in the Third
World. ,
"The ideological conflict will recede,"
Manley said, if the world was unified in a
common economic strategy and coalition.
"The world out there is more complex than
the good guy bad guy view."
