"Tourism is North Carolina's third biggest industry, behind textiles and tobacco," said Charles Heatherly, director of the North Carolina Travel and Tourism Divi sion. "Last year tourism hit a . new record of $3.1 billion." And with the economy supposedly getting bet ter, he said, he doesn't see "how tourism-can help but be better this year." . . ' w . "Most people may not realize it, but the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the most popular park in the U.S.," he said. Likewise, the Blue.
