The Tar Heels four-day total of 42-over-par 1 194 on Ohio State University's par-72 Scarlet Course accounted for the best UNC finish in NCAA play since a fourth-place showing in 1984. . Parker, posting rounds of 73, 75, 73 and 68, finished 1-over-par 289 to notch fifth place. Perennial power Oklahoma State, last year's runner-up, posted an 8-over total of 1160 to claim the team title. Individual medalist Brian Watts shot a final-round 66 to assure the Cowboys of their 13th top two finish in the past 15 years. UNC senior John Hughes went 74, 76, 73 and 73 for a 7-over total of 295, placing 20th, individually.
