The sounds of pure XTC
Over the years, the British band XTC has changed,

On the 50th anniversary of the Batman character, a new
movie scheduled for release in June has seemingly capti
vated the mood of the entire nation, as Batfever has be
come as commonplace as the Batmobile, the Batcave and
the other Batdevices most of us have seen on the popular
'60s television show. But the Batman character has been
more than a TV show. In 50 years, the character has been a
comic and a movie as well. Andrew Lawler gives a history of
the rharanter and tells whv the mnvie miPht culminate the
increased popularity of the Batman character in the past ten
years.

Regardless of whether or not 1988 was your favorite
year for movies, it was an impressive year in the eyes of
many. The Omnibus movie team of Richard Smith and
James Dean have made their predictions for the Oscars,
which will be handed out next week.
