The North Carolina Shakespeare Festival has restructured its man agement and created the position of Producer for Pedro Suva, who has served as the theater's Managing Director since 1984. The goal of re structuring is to enhance the Festival's opportunities for success in the 90's. The upgraded staffing will allow the theater to address long-term needs, as well as to better handle extensive daily operations. . Replacing Silva as Managing Director is Gian Paul Morelli, who has served as Managing Director of the Madison Repertory Theatre in Wis consin since 1985. Morelli has nine years of experience in management and direction of professional theater companies, including the Weather vane Theatre of Whitefield, New Hampshire and the Arizona Dance Theatre and Arizona Theatre Company, both of Phoenix. He also worked as a professional actor in theater, film and television from 1976-1980. Louis Rackoff, in his third year as Artistic Director, completes the expanded management team. "In one sense, the Festival has simply outgrown being led solely by a Managing Director," says Silva. "In another sense, however, the theater has earned the right to more fully control and aggressively create its own destiny. The new staff structure is not a luxury. Rather, it's an invest ment, a critical next step in further realizing the Festival's opportunities to better serve the students and citizens of North Carolina. me to mm i MUSIC NIKKI MEETS THE HIB ACHI at Cat's Cradle at 10 p.m. Call 967 9053 for details.
