"People shouldn't feel paralyzed from taking action, thinking that what they're doing is insignificant," he said. "Every tree that gets planted counts. Every newspaper that gets recycled counts." Earth Week will also offer three dances. Dan Coleman, an organizer for the Take a Spin Dance, said these events were a good way for people to have fun and learn about the environment. The Take a Spin Dance will feature a rock band and Trinidad North, a reg gae group, as well as representatives from 18 environmental organizations. Admission will be $5 and donations will be accepted. The dance is in its third year, and in the past as many as 1 ,000 people have attended, Coleman said. "That a thousand people wqujd come is very significant," he said.;,. The Weaver Street Market in Carrboro, managed by Ruffin Slater, will sponsor an Earth Day celebration April 21 with a fair featuring music; speakers and market vendors. "I've always been a sports fan, so I went to a meeting of Carolina Fever, which was just getting started then." The increasing size of the CAA staff is helping expand its areas of focus, she said. "My staff this year is unbeliev able. My work load has been greatly re duced because of their hard work. The bigger staff that we have now allows us to spread out the work, and get more done, but sometimes having a bigger staff means it's harder to make decisions."
