Kent Zimmerman, director of the Boulder Convention and Visitor Bureau, urged Chapel Hill to make more money by following Boulder's lead in raising taxes on certain luxuries. Zimmerman noted Chapel Hill's advantages over Boulder, including historic sites, fall foliage and festivals. Chapel Hill could use those advantages, in addition to tourism-related taxes, to enlarge the local economy, he said.
