Direct organiser was the Durham club, and the late M. Eugene Newsom was Mr. Rotary in Durham at the time. He, too, was here to give his blessings •to the infant progeny of hi* group. The next year Gene New som was to be elected president ;of Rotary International. So you can see.” Wade’s story also points out that four of the members, Victor Huggins, Ike Greer, Sylvester Green, and the late Robert Madry, have been district goW tram, and that five others have jbeen presidents of Rotary in {other towns. Every mayor of Chapel HiU since the club was organised has been a Rotarian. Copies of the book were pre sented to members at the weekly meeting. Six of the seven charter member* still affiliated with the club, Bruce Strowd, Collier Cobb, Jr., E. Carrington Smith, Zeb Council, Y. Z. Cannon and John S. Bennett, spoke briefly with reminiscences. The other charter member, Fred Bowman, was ab sent. President-elect John Brauer had charge of the program. Pfc. Deo Vance Here Pfe. Don Vance is here on fur lough visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rupert Vance of 501 Dogwood drive. He arrived about two weeks ago from Fort Carson, Colorado, where he was stationed, and will leave next Sunday for Camp Kilmer, N. J. From there he will go to Germany.
