meet on Wednesdays for the
study of creative dramatics, with
the pupils acting out famous
children’s stories. Grades six and
seven will meet on Mondays for
the study of acting, and grades

Father of Local
Woman Succumbs
Henry 11. Voliett, GO-year-old
father of Wrs. Walter West of
Chapel Hill, died in an Oxford
hospital Sunday of a heart at
tack.
He and Mis. Voliett were on
their way from their home in
Richmond visit their daughter
here when he suffered a heart
attack at Oxford. The funeral
was hold in Richmond Tuesday.
His widow and daughter are the
only survivors.
Mrs. Laura Warnock Plans to Conduct
An ‘ After-School Club’ for Children
Mrs.’ I.aura E. Warnock has
announced that, beginning this
month, she will conduct an "Af
ter-School Club” at her spacious
lujme at 322 West Rosemary
Street (across the street from
the rear driveway of Fowler's
Store). It will be for children
from the first grade up and will
be open from mid-afternoon to
5 p.nt. from Monday through
Friday and possibly from 1' a.m.
to 1 pm. on Saturdays. It is
planned to he ,of special value
to parents who work and are
unable to h<. at home before 5
p.nt.
"The After-School Club will he
developed according to the de
mand for it." Mrs. Warnock said.
“It will offer activities for chil
dren according to their indivi
dual bents and requirements.
There will he twenty of play as
well a< activities of a more con
structive • ature. A chief aim will
he to teach children decorum,
without its being forced, and
also consideration for others.'

a lawyer, was for many years
an assistant administrative offi
' cer of Yale University. She is
a graduate nurse and has done a
great deal of social work. She
founded the Settlement House in
i New Haven and was president
of its board of directors for
three years She took courses in
sociology and child psychology
at Yale. Her son and his wife
here have two children, Janet, f>,
and Elliott. 2.

Mr. Her has been with the

Observance Opens
The ten-day observance of the
Jewish New Year, Rosh Hash
