Eastern Airlines Drops Coach Fare Eastern Air Lines will offer over one third of its service through Raleigh-Durham Air port at economy coach rates, < starting October 1, according to J. W. Goodwin, Director of East ern’s Community Relations here. The rate reduction is being made because of a change in the seating arrangement of East ern's fleet of Super Electros. Seats have been added to pro vide 15 coach seats (two on one : side of the aisle, three on the other) in the forward section, with 54 seats two abreast plus a special lounge area in the rear for the use of first-class ticket holders. New tariffs approved by the Civil Aeronautics Board will drop fares as much as 21% to some points, said Goodwin. An illustration of the comparative prices shows Chicago service down to $38.85 (plus tax) econ omy coach compared to $49.30 (plus tax) first class. A total of 564 coach seats and 1,016 first class seats will be offered by Eastern daily from Raleigh-Durham Airport. This increases coach service to over 35% of the total seats available. N. O.
