Mr. Simpson, a 1955 graduate of the University, is the pro EARLE WALLACE prietor of Town & Campus e.othing store. The UNC Division of Health Affairs will be working to meet a $7,500 goal. Dr. Robert Zeppa, campaign chairman for Health Affairs, hopes that the 11 captains and many solicitors under his com mand will be able to contact everyone within the Division personally. "We must face the fact that these things are vitally import ant to the community," Dr. Zep pa said of the activities support ed by the Community Chest. Dr. Zeppa, a professor in the Department of Surgery of the UNC School of Medicine, is also an administrator in the Me morial Hospital Research Clin ic. Medical research gets only a small amount from the Com munity Chest. Dr. Zeppa said that this comes from the Unit ed Medical Research Founda tion, which often helps to get small medical research projects started. Dr. Zeppa's research with pa tients has developed in the last four years. The clinic's pur pose is to study the phenomenon of the patient as a person. On the University Campus outside the Division of Health Affairs, co-chairmen Earle Wal lace and Sim Wilde are in pro cess of appointing division lead ers for their drive. They plan a ‘Lyrics & Legends' On WUNC Tonight “Lyrics and Legends,” a new 15-program series produced for National Educational Television by Philadelphia’s non-commercial station WHYY-TV, will start on WUNC Channel 4 tonight at 7:30. We have a good crew of divi sion captains, all willing and eager to serve the Chest pur pose. 1 believe we will have an outstanding year.” Dr. Wallace is Associate Dean of the University Graduate School and assistant professor in the Department of Political Science. Mr. Wilde is director of the University's Evening College. The Community Chest cam paign will open formally on No vember 1. to song—as the development of American folk music grows out of the life, work, sorrows, and joys of the people. Among the many well-known folk singers appearing on the half-hour programs throughout the series are Oscar Brand, Bon nie Dobson, Harry Jackson, Ed McCurdy, Jean and Edna Ritchie, Pete Seeger, Victoria Spivey, and Ellen Stekert. Folklore and folk music auth ority Dr. Tristram P. Coffin, who is a member of the faculty of the newly-created Graduate School of Folklore at the University of Pennsylvania, * is host for the series, presenting for Channel 4 viewers everything from Mae West’s version of "Frankie and Johnnie” to Oscar Brand’s songs of the outlaw; from Ed McCur dy’s “Captain Kidd” to Pete Seeger’s songs of protest; from Victoria Spivey’s “T. B. Blues” to Jean Ritchie’s ballads. To produce this unusual series with as much naturalness and authenticity as possible, camera teams went into backwoods Pennyslvania; to Matamoros, Mexico, where the song form known as the “corrido" was born; to Mystic. Conn., to explore the nation”s sea chanties; and to the hills of Kentucky, to visit a square dance play party. To provide the widest possible viewing choice, “Lyrics and Le gends" will be presented three times each week, on Wednesday evenings at 7:30; on Thursday mornings at 11:45; and on Sun day afternoons at 4:30.
