Until the middle 'hf last week, the Harris house stood be- „ tween Norwood Bros, and Ohie Davis Esso stations on West Franklin Street. Next summer a hotel will stand there. Demolition crews removed the old house and an outbuilding be hind it to make way for a seven story hotel and restaurant to be built by Interstate Investors. Five other buildings, three of them residences facing Rosemary and Church Streets, will come down soon to make room for the hotel’s double-deck parking lot. The hotel itself will present a plain, unbroken brick wall to West Franklin Street. The en trance will be behind the wall. Inside the 169-by-59-foot building will be two meeting rooms, a kitchen, a restaurant, and offices on the first floor. In the rear will be a swimming pool. On the six upper floors will be the hotel’s rooms. The hotel’s driveway will be dual lane and will run at a right angle to Franklin Street on the Obie Davis side of the building. It will provide access to the parking decks, which will also have access from Rosemary and Church Streets. No definite completion date has been set for the hotel, which has been in planning for about two years now But Joe Andrews, construction foreman for the Little Construction Co. of Char lotte. estimated it would take about eight months to finish the building. At peak, Mr. Andrews said, a force of about 125 men would be working on the build ing.
