The game was featured by the bril liant play of seniors on both squads, many of whom may never have the opportunity to play on the gridiron again. Chapel Hill jumped out in front with a 6-0 lead early in the first quarter when speedster Donnie Clark sprinted 32 yards around left end for the initial score. This 75-yard drive was featured by a 42-yard screen pass from quarter back Danny Leigh to Clark, put ting the Wildcats in Northern territory The ’Cats held this lead throughout the first half with neither team making any more serious threats. Late in the third period of play the Knights knotted the score at 6-6 on a seven-yard smash up the middle by Freddy Cole. Wayne Jordap’s PAT kick strayed from its target, leaving the score at 6-6. Chapel Hill took the ensuing kick and initiated a 60-yard drive that was to break the tie with the winning score. Danny Leigh passed to end Tom Briekhouse, setting the 'Cats in scoring posi tion. Then end Eugene Hines drifted out into the and zone all alone, where Leigh connected with him for the tally. Again Leigh’s PAT kick was no good. Score: 12-6, Chapel Hill. Late in the fourth period the Knights penetrated to the Chap- Christian Science Address Is Nov. 24 The fact that the Master’s heal ing and Christian Science heal ing are based on the same divine theology will be the topic of a lecture on Christian Science to be given in Chapel Hill by Geith A. Plimmer of London, England on November 24. Open to the public without charge, the lecture will be spon sored by the members of First | Church of Christ, Scientist of : Chapel Hill. Mr. Plimmer will speak in Gerrard Hall, on the UNC campus, at 3:00 p.m. His subject will be “Christian Sci ence: The Christian’s Best Friend.” 1 Mr. Plimmer, a member of the Board of Lectureship of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, is j currently on an extensive lecture tour in the United States and Canada. ‘Three Cheers’ “Three cheers for books” is j the theme adopted by the Chil dren's Book Council for National I Book Week this week. All chil- I dren in the community are in | vited to visit the Chapel Hill Public Library during the week and see the special exhibits and colorful posters that will be fea tured. Each child who visits the Li brary will receive a special book mark designed by the artist, Ad rienne Adams. A poem, written by John Ciardi for Book Week, 1 appears on the bookmark. el Hill 24. The jubilant ’Cats were willing to run out the remaining time. The ’Cats now hold an undisputed second place in Eastern 3-A District Three, sporting a seven win, three loss record, their best in the past few seasons. Roxboro High School de feated Oxford High School for first place in the conference and the right to advance into the state 3-A playoffs. Northern finished the season with a 3-6-1 record.
