‘lguana* On Stage At Allied Arts Durham Theatre Guild’s “The Night of the Iguana” will go into its second week of performances Thursday at the Allied Arts Cen ter on Proctor Street in Durham. The play, one of Tennessee Wil liams’ most recent, was present ed Thursday, Friday and Satur day evenings last week and will follow the same performance schedule this week. Curtain is at 8:30 pm An added feature, a Saturday matinee at 5 p.m., will precede the final perform ance that evening. This is the first production by the Durham Theatre Guild for the current season. Carl Hin richs is directing the play and is also responsible for set designs. Durham’s Jim Zellner leads the cast in the role of Shannon, an ex-minister who has turned to guiding tours through pre- World War II Mexico; and Kathy Noyes, also of Durham, is seen as Maxine, the lusty, recently widowed hotel proprietor in the dilapidated, rustic resort. Raleigh’s Becky Penny por trays Hannah, and Steve Gold man of Durham is seen as Non no, the oldest living poet. Other members of the cast are Linda Samfieid, Paul Lewis, Melody Dickinson, F. J. Lewis, Wyatt Clark, Woody Woodfin, Laurel Dykstra of Chapel Hill and Connie Service. The setting is the run-down hotel inhabited with a conglo meration of guests, including a German family, the poet and his conservative granddaughter, a busload of irate Baptist college teachers and a scattering of Mexicans. Reservations for the play may be made by phoning Allied Arts Center, 682-5519 in Durham. Hie play is billed as an adult attrac tion. Funeral Monday For J. T. Fowler Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for James Taylor Fowler of Carrboro, who died Saturday nigit at his home. Mr. Fowler was 71. Hie services were conducted at the Carrboro Baptist Church by the Rev. Calvin Rains, the Rev. B. M. Spence, and the Rev. William Cole. Burial was in the Antioch Baptist Church Ceme tery. Surviving Mr. Fowler are his widow, Mrs. Arlie Harris Fow ler; three daughters: Mrs. Cole man Bradshaw of Rt. 1,, Chapel Hill, Mrs. Dallas Durham of Al bemarle, and Mrs. Junior Gordon of Hillsboro; two sons: Herman Fowler of Maryland and Bobby Fowler of Richmond, Va.; a step daughter, Mrs. Alice Macy Gar ris of Henderson; a stepson, Charles R. Watkins of Raleigh; a sister, Mrs. Pearl Ferguson of Rt. 1, Chapel Hill; nine grand children, one great-grandchild, and two step-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Grady Fergu son, Leary and Lester Wilson, Melvin, 0. D. and William Fow ler. Behrman Appointed To BAS Faculty Jack Newton Behrman was named Friday to be a new mem ber of the faculty of the Business Administration School in the Uni versity here. He is a full profes sor. A specialist in economic and international business, he will teach beginning January 1, 1964. Chancellor William B. Aycock announced the appointment fol lowing approval by the President and the executive committee of the Board of Trustees. A native of Waco, Texas, Behr man is 41 years old, a graduate of Davidson College in 1943, with the M.A. from the University here in 1945, and the M.A. and Ph.D. from Princeton Univer sity. He has taught at Davidson, Princeton, Washington and Lee and the University of Delaware, and is a member of the American Economics Association, the So ciety for International Develop ment, and the Association for Education in International Busi ness.
