Cosmopolitan Club Dance la Saturday A semi-formal Christmas Ball will be held in Naval Armory Saturday, sponsored by die Cosmopolitan Club. The ball wU atari at 8:39. Mask will be prwvMtd by Ae “Southern Gen tlemen” which Is composed of ten instruments. It will be a ball-room fencing party with a f*w pieces of r*ck and roll and twist mask. During the thlrty mimite intermission, excerpts from Tchaikovsky's “Nutcrack er" will be performed. John Clinard, a graduate stu dent in the Classics Department, has been appointed by the Exe cutive Committee of the Club to head the Christmas Ball com mittee. Hus Committee is com posed of about forty people who will take care of the floor show “Nutcracker,” decorations and arrangement, publicity, tickets, refreshment and music. Tickets for the ball are $2.50 per couple and can be obtained at Danziger’s, Y Court, Graham Memorial Student Union, Lenoir Hall and all members of the Executive Committee. Student members and honor ary members of the Club are urged to attend. Since this is one of the big social functions of the Club, the Executive Com mittee feels that it is a very good chance for foreign students and their host families (honor ary members of the Club) to get together. The public is al so invited. Refreshments will be provided. Schedule Changed For One-Act Plays The Carolina Playmakers have announced new production dates for their upcoming bill of three original ohe-act (days. The bill, originally scheduled for presenta tion oh Saturday and Sunday eve ning, December 7 and 8. has been re-slated for the following Satur day and Sunday, December 14 and 15. The change m schedule was necessitated by the two addition al performances of “Long Day’s Journey Into Nigit” last week. The three new one-acts, all written by students in Prof. Thomas M. Patterson's playwrit ing class at UNC, are "The But ton” by George Gray of Gaston ia, “Sydney,” by Richard Philp of Vero Beach, Florida, and "A Matter of Distinction” by Tom Bonenson of New York City. Curtain time for both the Sat urday and Sunday performances will be 7:30 p.m., and the public is cordieHy invited to attend either showing. There will be no admission charge. Library Will Hold ‘Forgiveness Day’ Whoever heard of celebrating your birthday by giving some thing away? It doesn’t happen very often. Jones of Raleigh has been appointed commercial sales manager for Eastern Air Lines covering the Raleigh-Dur ham and Eastern North Caro lina area, said J. W. Goodwin, director of community relations for the company here. An arta skies office has been established in Raleigh to handle the growing activity of the com pany in this area, said Mr. Goodwin. Mr. Jones was reared in Fair mont, and served in the Navy during World War 11. He at tended Duke University before being employed by Eastern Air Lines at ftaleigh-Durham in 1948. Ito was sales representa tive for Eastern prior to the strike in 1962 and since that time has been in the travel agency business. In Ms new position, Mr. Jones will be responsible for commer cial and military business for Eastern North Carolina. His of fice will be located in the Sir Walter Hotel in Raleigh.
