C„ THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 1936 BIBi * THOUGHT Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool. 2. Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.—Proverbs 19:1-2. TWAS EVER THUS! •^cJn\c vears ago Max Gardner spoke in the First Baptist Church in Charlotte, along with Frank Graham at a Social Service Conference, and with much feeling he stressed his love and bleeding heart for the underprivileged. Doubtless he was sincere. I hen he was doing “business” in the Old North State, but he change] his business address to Washington, D. C., and became a lobbyist for the Textile interests, after he had wept on the shoul der of his textile employes at Shelby, telling them of his love for his fellowman. Now the headlines of the daily press inform the public of the fact that our ex-governor has received $75,000 from * he Air Industry for lobbying service, (which he claims w’as a few thousand less). Things are sure going good for the Shelby “line up,” and while the Hon. Clyde Huey made a statement in his opening political address in Charlotte, that nobody could blame him for being a brother-in-law to Max Gardner, still it is a well! known fact that in the days of the “(floset” political nominations Shedly ruled the roost. But that day i§ passing and the people are thinking more for themselves than they are letting the “big-wigs” think for them. T I lie editor <>i tlie Journal was horn a Democrat, passed through the Red Shirt regime and is still for Roosevelt and all he stands for—but not a Liberty League Democrat which would destroy the rights and subordinate the worker to the infinitesimal. The Brown Derby suffered defeat and now in a spirit of animosity he would assail and attack the man who brought (this country out of a state of chaos. U Big Business was crying for relief—they were willing to ac cept any dose of medicine that would raise them from a bed of financial sickness that they themselves had brought on. Roose velt gave it to them. He came to their rescue by closing the banks for two weeks. Then the weaker ones went to the wall and the workers lost. But banking was stabilized and made safe. It is all a laugh; it is all political. Capital wants prestige, and , should have it, but there is the man ttyat makes Capital possible, ' and that is the producer. The swivel chair at $75,000 or $100,000, does not produce. He may have the brains, and he may not, but it is the man at the machine, at the throttle, at the loom, at the job. of building our heralded skyscrapers or the lowly dwelling, that makes capital: ^ ; ] * I PATRONIZE OUR ADVERTISERS “SAFETY TESTED USED - CARS Safety Tested Means That These Cars Have Been Carefully Checked and Reconditioned 99 1934 Dodge Sedan___$463 11934 Oldsmobile T Coupe_495 Radio Equipped. 11933 OMesmobile Sedan_425 1931 Pontiac S. FINDS RELito. oR 15 YEARS SUFFERING To Asthma Sufferers I suffered with broncmai asthma for 15 years. Every few weeks I was down in bed with an attack. The least exposure to cold or in damp weather would brine n these awful spells of asthma. Sometimes it seemed that I would lose my breath in spite of all that could be done for me. About 3 years ago I was stricken down with a severe attack. I called in Dr. Hollingsworth, Chiropractor. When he came I could hardly get my breath. He gave me a spinal treatment which gave me relief right away. He continued treating me at my home for a few days until I was able to go to his office for treatment He cured me of asthma as I haven’t had the slightest touch of asthma since taking his treatment He also cured me of awful headaches.
