Downer said today he asked to be relieved because his duties in lining up the play area had been completed. He had voluntarily continued his work since expiration of his contract on May 8, he said. Blume, chairman of the Convention Committee arranging for the South Carolina State Federation of Labor’s annual meeting to be held here be ginning June 30, says everything is in readiness on his end of the line, and urges all labor people to attend the meeting. “Come on down, the water is fine,” reads the invitation from Mr. Blume.
