UNION LABEL BROADCAST SET FOR DEC. 5TH WASHINGTON, D. C.—On Decem ber 6, I. M. Ornburn, Secretarv Treaturer of the Union Label Trades Department of the American Federa tion of Labor, will speak on Union Label Christmas gifts over the Na tional Broadcasting Company’s Blue Network from 6:15 to 6:30 P. C.—Arthur 0. Wharton has resigned from the presi dency of the Intel-national Associa tion of Machinists, because of ill health. The Executive Council of the Ma chinists Association accepted his res ignation with profound regret. The retirement becomes effective on No vember 30. 1 To succeed Mr. Wharton the coun cil elected Harvey W. Brown, who has been vice president since 1921 and acting president for the past year during Mr. Wharton’s leave of ab • sense. Mr. Brown’s term will run until a referendum election is held among the membership of the asso ciation. Mr. Wharton is sixty-six years old. He has filled many important posi tions in the ranks of organized labor and government.
