Ernest Delaiiey Is Elected Tax Col’ect’r; Succeeds Armstrong The Charlotte City Council packed many official actions into an hour’s session last Wednesday afternoon, an occasion featured by the return of Councilman Claude L. Albea, with at tendant ceremony to place on the board after a long illness. Ernest L. DeLaney, well known Charlotte real estate man and attor ney, was elected as city commissioner of revenue at a salary of $3,300 a mmmmmmmmmmmamm year, succeeding James W. Armstrong who was promoted to the post of City Manager. Mr. Armstrong was pres* ent yesterday, submitting his reports and recommendations. No other nom ination was made except that of Mr. DeLaney and the election was unani mous. Me will start work July 1. Vogler and Ed waMaaaaawvwwvwvovwwow Lumber Industry In The Carolinas Is To Be Investigated Eleven inspectors of the Carolinas region of the wage and hour division began Tuesday tneir participation in the first nation-wide drive of the di vision for compliance to provisions of the fair labor standards act in the lumber industiy, according to an nouncement by Major A. L. Fletcher, regional director. Six inspectors of the division are working under supervision of Senior Inspector Fred J.
